Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Questers and Planners groups.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
